About Rod Smith, MSMFT

Rod Smith has taught family therapy and courses on related topics for various institutions, primarily The University of the Nations, in many locations around the world.
He is an excellent resource person for all kinds of troubled or Difficult Relationships.
Rod is also a writer. His “YOU AND ME” newspaper column is widely enjoyed in South Africa where it has been published daily for almost to 7 years.
So valued are Rod Smith’s methods of intervention that high-profile, highly conflicted families have flown him half the way around the world to assist in finding some manner of resolution to seemingly insurmountable dilemmas.
Rod has frequently been voted the best speaker by many graduate students. (See comments)
Rod Smith has presented seminars and retreats to professionals and lay audiences in over 20 countries. He is the Executive Director of Open Hand, Inc. an initiative which provides home-based counseling services to individuals and families in Marion County by referral from the Juvenile Court, the Office of Family and Children, and Child Protection Services. Rod no longer sees clients referred through these state run systems.
Rod Smith chose to discontinue his popular Saturday editorial column which appeared for several years in The Indianapolis Star - for no apparent reason but that he said he was done. Despite this, the column has still appeared on an irregular basis.
Rod’s Family Therapy degree is from Butler University (1994) in Indianapolis, IN USA.
What others say:

“Rod Smith is the most provocative speaker I have ever heard.” Julie, Auckland, New Zealand
“No one has challenged my thinking about love and relationships as radically as Rod Smith. He was an excellent speaker for our church retreat.” Peter, Indianapolis.
“Rod, your book on manners is excellent. We laughed all the way to Chicago as my son read it to us — using your accent!” Christine, Indianapolis
“Really, Mr. Smith. If someone reads your ‘manners book’ who doesn’t know YOU they will think you are nuts!” Drew B. (13)
“Thanks for the questions to all the answers I had,” Masters Student, England
